LNER Peppercorn Class A1 Steam Locomotive 60163 ‘Tornado’ working 1Z66 ‘The Cathedrals Express’ from Ely to Bath & Bristol through a rainy and wet Enfield Lock Station in North London on 04/08/2011.
I intended to film the return working of this train later in the day but as I arrived at Enfield Lock the train came thrashing through over 15 minutes EARLY!!!
Many thanks to Matt (BREGMatt), Barry (BKendlerA4) & Simon (SKendler5) for their company. Please click the links to visit their Youtube Channels.
Today saw British Railways Standard Class 7 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive hauling The Cathedrals Express service from Lewes in East Sussex to Ely in Cambridgeshire. As the train was scheduled to travel along the West Anglia Mainline it gave me the opportunity to capture the train on both the outward and return legs. I duly set off to Enfield Lock just before 13:00 to capture the Down working which ran through approximately 4 minutes late.
1Z84 Lewes – Ely
For the return working I arrived just after 19:00 and I am certainly glad I came back out as the Up working flew through Enfield Lock on time and at full whack throwing out a lot of steam.
1Z85 Ely – Lewes
All in all a fantastic experience and my kids certainly loved seeing Britannia on the return working. Many thanks to Matt for his company on both legs, to view his videos please visit his Youtube channel BREGMatt.
I ventured out this evening to capture the return leg of The Norfolkman, hauled by Britannia Class Steam Locomotive 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’. The Norfolkman left London Liverpool Street this morning bound for Norwich via the GEML and returned via Ely & Bishops Stortford.
The train, headcode 1Z71 is seen coasting through Enfield Lock Station on the West Anglia line running approx. 4 minutes behind time heading back to Liverpool Street via Stratford.
